Understanding a recent ‘sickness’

Broadcast Message

Returned from trip, felt major fatigue, gut pain, headache—unlike any prior illness. Diet changed significantly; increased caffeine, red wine, non-organic items. Suspected caffeine withdrawal as main cause of discomfort. Considering three options: quit caffeine entirely, consume occasionally, or use daily. Opting for total avoidance for better health and sovereignty. Reflect on personal habits.

Understanding a recent ‘sickness’ A few days ago, on Saturday night, I returned from a two week journey; a week outside Philly and a week in Park City, Utah. Tue, 20 Aug 2024 17:50:46 GMT https://healthandfreedom.substack.com/p/understanding-a-recent-sickness A few days ago, on Saturday night, I returned from a two week journey; a week outside Philly and a week in Park City, Utah.

The next day, on Sunday, I woke up feeling major fatigue, pain in the gut, and a headache.

It did not feel like a sickness I had felt before.

And it knocked me out.

There was no mucus which usually is present when their is a virus.

I had no nausea so it wasn’t a stomach bug and didn’t feel like anything like that.

So as I ached in pain, I wondered what it could have been and what could have caused it… My diet is usually extremely simple and routine. I could tell you every single thing I consume in a week because it does not vary much day to day nor week to week.

So if I ever feel off, which is rare, I reflect on the things I put into my body and see if there were any difference compared to my normal diet.

And maybe it was this difference that caused the “off-ness.”

So let’s compare the difference in my diet. My normal diet consists off: In order from most to least..

Raw milk

Honey

Cacao

Red meat

Fruit

Sourdough Bread

Bone Broth - less than once per week

Chicken - less than once per week

Eggs - less than once per week

Fish - less than once per week

Coffee - less than once per week

Red Wine - less than once per week

Everything is always organic including the bread, coffee, and wine.

Over the last two week while away my diet consisted of: Everything above except coffee daily, a bit more red wine, bacon, and possibly a few items that were not organic (specifically the coffee the second week away, one handful of blueberries, and one Wagyu beef burger because I felt bad not ordering anything at the restaurant…again).

While aching in pain my initial thoughts of what it might be was the non organic food… As mentioned, I usually eat organic everything. And non organic basically means chemicals.

But my body is pretty strong. I don’t think these chemicals alone could cause such damage.

And I have eaten non organic food (most my life) without this type of reaction.

And now my body is more pure than ever so if it didn’t directly effect me then, then I don’t think it’d do worse now.

So I thought again.

Could it have been the airport security x-ray machine?

This x-ray machine always makes me feel slightly off. It can kill or corrupts the bacteria and it’s DNA in the body.

Although I don’t like these machines and want to avoid them, once again, I have been through them dozens of times, including recently, without this effect.

So I thought again.

Was it the red wine?

I don’t think so. I never had more than a few glasses and took days in between drinking. Never was I drunk or hungover so clearly it wouldn’t all of a sudden cause 2-3 days of agony.

So that left me with the last difference in diet and routine…

The Caffeine… I usually only have caffeine on a occasion probably averaging less than once per week. For most the last year I actually had almost none at all so even once per week is a lot for me.

But the past two weeks, falling back to old habits and routines, I had caffeine just about everyday. Some days I even had two cups of coffee.

Once I recognized this, it became obvious.

The feeling I was feeling did not feel like a sickness it felt like a withdrawal… literally like something trying but failing to leave my body and creating all sorts of pain and chaos along the way. And this attempt to leave left me seriously fatigued to the point where I had to take a day to lay in bed.

It was agonizing to say the least.

And I’m sure it was a combination of things like non organic food, x-ray, altitude, travel, and slight dehydration, but the caffeine seems to be the biggest thing.

I never want to feel this pain again. So now knowing what I know, I am left with three options:

Never drink caffeine again

Drink caffeine on occasion but never routinely

Drink caffeine daily and never stop

Number 2 seems the hardest as it requires extreme discipline and resistance to temptation because once you have it, the next day you want it again.

Number 3 is the least sovereign. I don’t like to rely on anything. I like to be free. Plus if caffeine causes that much pain when withdrawing, how much chronic chaos is it causing while still consuming?

Number 1 seems like the best option to me. Full sovereignty. No risk of withdrawal. No temptation. Maybe on a super occasion I will have some caffeine but at least for now I will be taking some time off. I’m good with my milk, honey, & cacao (aka Chocolate Money ).

Maybe this helps you reflect on your own habits with caffeine or other things that you feel as if you “need.”
