Health is cheaper than being unhealthy. Eating healthy means eating less and avoiding costly vices like junk food and alcohol. It also leads to fewer medical expenses, saving on prescriptions and time off work. The biohacking trend can seem expensive and unattainable, but true health comes from simple, natural practices like eating whole foods and enjoying outdoor activities with friends. Health is more accessible and affordable than perceived; looking back at ancestral lifestyles can guide healthier choices.
It is cheaper to be healthy There is a common misconception that health is expensive. Sat, 27 Jul 2024 00:11:51 GMT https://healthandfreedom.substack.com/p/it-is-cheaper-to-be-healthy There is a common misconception that health is expensive.
The truth is, it is significantly cheaper than being unhealthy.
This is true for both upfront costs and downstream expenses.
Upfront Costs
When you eat healthy, you eat less. Healthy food has more nutrients which quicker satiates the body. Unhealthy food has less nutrients leaving you unfulfilled always wanting more.
These cravings take over causing you to buy more food and spend more money.
Although hard to admit, when you eat unhealthy also you tend to spend lots of money on all the vices like cigarettes, vapes, alcohol, weed, junk food, etc.
On the other hand, when you eat healthy, you tend to not even desire those vices.
My grocery bill might be cheaper than those below the poverty line.
Downstream Expenses When you eat healthy, you don’t get sick. You save money on medicine, healthcare, and time off from work.
66% of adults are on a prescription and on average they have four or more. This gets expensive and oftentimes leads to more side effects which become increasingly more expensive.
Healthcare expenses continue to rise. I personally don’t believe in healthcare, but for those who do have it understand that it increases the more you have to use it aka the more sick you are the more expensive your healthcare gets.
Lastly time off from work is not directly expensive but indirectly. Instead of making money, you are sick at home.
Misconception on health expenses Led by creators like Dave Asprey and Bryan Johnson, there is a biohacking trend.
Although a net positive overall because it is bringing more demand towards preventative health, there is a negative of this version of health because it seems unattainable (money wise) for the average individual.
Their biohacking requires thousands of dollars per month on supplements, memberships, etc.
Yet this is all unnecessary and, in my opinion, less effective.
Cheap and true “biohacking” The real “biohacking” is simply being more human.
Leave the supplements behind and simply eat nutrient dense whole food like raw milk, honey, fruit, and red meat.
Don’t worry about the elaborate workout routine and just get outside in the sunlight daily on walks around the neighborhood.
Forget about the therapy and find friends who also like to hangout outside. Compliment and hug each other frequently. Listen to positive music together. Play together.
These things are all way more attainable, mostly free, and very pleasurable.
Don’t be fooled. Health is easier and cheaper than it looks.
Just think to yourself, “what did my great great great ancestors do? How did they live? What did they eat?” and you’ll be more healthy and happy than the vast majority of America.
What do you do for your health?
