Tucker Carlson's recent podcast with Calley and Casey Means discusses the chronic disease epidemic in the U.S. — over 60% affected, with $3.4T spent annually. They critique the health system's vicious cycle, driven by profit from the sick, tied to ultra-processed foods and a corrupted medical industry. The Means siblings advocate for a virtuous cycle emphasizing natural health, regenerative farming, and preventive care instead of treating chronic illnesses, urging a shift toward healthier lifestyles.
How Big Pharma Keeps You Sick with Casey and Calley Means The vicious cycle of our sick care machine... and its alternative. Thu, 22 Aug 2024 21:07:58 GMT https://healthandfreedom.substack.com/p/how-big-pharma-keeps-you-sick-with Last Friday, Tucker Carlson released a podcast with Calley & Casey Means stating similar statistics that I have shared raising the alarm about the chronic disease epidemic with over 60% of the U.S. with a chronic disease (<6% in the 1960s) and $3.4T spent on it annually (only to make it worse).
They highlight the vicious cycle creating it and the virtuous one needed to resolve it.

For context:
Casey Means was the president of her Stanford Medical Class. After post-grad, she recognized the flaws of the industry particularly how they were intentionally not taught to heal the root cause of the injury/illness, so she left. She went on to found Levels , a continuous glucose monitor company.
Calley Means graduated from Harvard Business School and was a pharmaceutical lobbyist. Awakened by his sister's radical transition, he began to notice the corruption within his industry and the vicious cycle it was creating, so he left. He went on to found Truemed , a platform that enables tax-free HSA/FSA spending on proactive health solutions.
When their mother died in 2022 from pancreatic cancer, they have been further invigorated by this mission.
The Current "Health" Care System: A Vicious Cycle Casey and Calley talk about how clear it is when you follow the incentives. The more sick we are, the more money they make...
The ultra-processed food industry makes people addicted and sick. The industry has now captured its regulator, the USDA, and the school systems. The government now subsidizes the production of this food and has made it the default in the schools.
The medical curriculum trains its students (the future doctors) to diagnose and prescribe. The centralized licensing structure threatens your license when you do otherwise (as seen during COVID). Both the universities and the regulator, the FDA, have been captured by the Pharma Industry.
Kids get sick, they go to the doctors, and the doctors diagnose and prescribe.
All medications have side effects leading to more medication. Kids go back to school and continue eating ultra-processed foods, and the vicious cycle continues.
The food and pharma industries are directly connected as seen by the $66B acquisition of Monsanto, one of the world's largest agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporations, by Bayer, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
The most profitable customer for this system is a chronically sick kid who remains sick their entire life. From the moment you and your kids were born, you were, and continue to be, quietly under attack by this vicious cycle.
I write more about this sick care machine here .
The Alternative: A Virtuous Cycle The solution is simple: be more human.
Calley's business partner in Truemed wrote a substack on this called, "The Great American Poisoning. " It highlights the more wild and human we are, the more healthy we are, and the other way around. As a comparison, he uses Zoo animals and how miserable, fat, and unhealthy they become the more time they spend tamed in the Zoo vs the natural health of their wild counterparts.
Put more resources into supporting regenerative farmers. No synthetic chemicals are needed in this process so the environment we live in remains pure (clean air, clean food, clean water).
Start buying food from these farmers and avoid ultra-processed food.
You feel good from this new environment and diet, making you sleep better at night, and giving you more energy to exercise and/or socialize.
Because you know what it is like to feel good, you desire to continue to feel good and do things like meditate, pray, go outside, and play and the virtuous cycle of health continues.
This virtuous cycle keeps you healthy and prevents chronic disease. So why spend trillions of dollars treating chronic disease when you can prevent it?
